..nEed hElp?!hErE's s0me visUal Basic ExperiEnce..lEarn and tRy iT!!

This week will be the most final week that I can say us, ZEPHY, can be busy of. Exams, requirements, and projects are everywhere. One project is our Visual Basic Program. And guess what, Gazzell, Erron, and I really had fun making it. I mean, it's very challenging and at the same time fun because you learn the secrets of the "present" programs we use in our computer. The three of us feel that we CAN also create our own unique program without the ever-helping "handout" SOMEDAY or maybe NOW.

This blog is dedicated to all students who like "me" encountered and scuffled her brain just to figure out problems during the whole-making process. Yes, it's not smooth sailing that's why I hope this blog helps you.

By the way, we call our visual basic trio as CGE (our initials)

Our requirement was to make a programs with message and input boxes and a program for mathematics, like a calculator. The first thin we did was the program with the message and input boxes. This was when we first encountered one of the mind-boggling problems in visual basic for us CGE. We were trying to put a "picture" as a background for the program. Then, we pmade a menu tab for background and after that we were stuck in the code window frustrated to know how to do it. First, we tried our own knowledge with the previous program we made. But then, we realized that our previous program was with "color background" not picture. And we were stuck thinking again. Suddenly, Kuya helped us unlock the problem. He solved it the next day. He told us to type the image name.picture Load/picture.then put the address of the picture desired. We were shocked because it was so frustrating but when it was solved "what a relief".Thanks to Kuya we learned something new.

Another thing trouble we bumped into is "declaring". We were doing our second program (calculator) when we encountered the "index as integer". We were clueless, because we already encoded the exact codes but then when we try to play it, it's always "compile error". The error is the declaring. Then in the codes window we found the general code. Then, we tried putting the code there and in the upper part we encoded, "DIM index as integer"..and it worked. CGE was really happy because we did it without the help of Kuya.

The last difficulty we came across is the "control array". When we were doing our calculator program, we didn't know what control array is. The problem was only the addition sign works and the rest (subtract, multiply, divide, clear) were not working. The, we decided to put copy the encoded codes and put it in another code place and just rearranged it depending on the subtract, divide, and etc. And still it didn't work. Then we thought maybe there was something wrong with the names we used. We realized that in the codes, we used Option1 only and not Option2,Option3 and up to Option5. When we tried to change the Option2 to Option1 a message box popped saying something about "control array". We read it in our "handout" and we changed the Options into Option1. Apparently, control array is a list of the same type of control, all of which share the same name. So that's it.

See we encountered troubles like bugs, wrong codes, but we solved it. Just broaden your ability to think and realize what's wrong. In the first problem we came across,we easily got irritated that's why we didn't get the answer easily. But in the next problems, we tried and reall searched without frustration and we solved it in no time.

Try some of my advice and making your own program will be easy.
